Wilson’s Sudden Illness and Fast Turnaround

Labrador Wilson is known around the clinic for his friendly nature, but when he arrived lethargic and unwell, the team knew something serious was going on. With quick treatment, Wilson made a full comeback.

Wilson, a 1.5-year-old black Labrador and a much-loved visitor from a nearby office, came in after a weekend of duck hunting. His owner, Mike, had noticed that Wilson wasn’t himself, showing signs of vomiting and diarrhoea, which worsened by Sunday night.

By Monday morning, Wilson was extremely lethargic and had to be carried from the truck. He wasn’t eating, was vomiting frequently, and had watery, blood-filled diarrhoea. The team admitted him straight away for treatment.

Under Vet – Dr Nore De Ridder’s care, Wilson spent two days and one night in hospital. With IV fluids, supportive medication, and close monitoring, he began to turn a corner. By Wednesday, he had his classic Labrador appetite back, and by Thursday, he was back on site with Mike, wagging his tail and sneaking lunches from coworkers.
