Milly’s Cherry Eye: A Quick Recovery After Surgery
In mid-August, Milly was brought to Tauranga Vets due to a concerning eye issue. Upon examination by vet Dana, it became clear that she had developed Cherry Eye, a condition where the gland in the third eyelid prolapses, causing a visible round, pink lump in the lower eyelid. This condition is common in younger dogs, especially certain breeds, and can lead to long-term issues if left untreated, as the gland plays an essential role in tear production.
Dana with the help of vet Max, proceeded with surgical correction to reposition the gland and ensure Milly’s eye remained healthy. Milly handled her time at the clinic wonderfully, charming the team with her sweet nature and calm demeanour. She did exceptionally well during the surgery and recovered without any complications.
