Daisy Breathes Easier and Sleeps Quietly Again
When Daisy was younger, she had surgery to widen her nostrils at the same time as her spey. It helped at the time, but as she aged, her breathing became more difficult again. Her owners described her snoring “like a freight train” through the night, and even everyday play was being limited because she could not cope with more strenuous activity.
To improve her comfort and safety, Daisy underwent a staphylectomy with Vet Dr Max Clout. This procedure trims back an overly thickened, elongated soft palate to reduce obstruction and allow air to flow more freely. Dr Max was very happy with how the surgery went, and Daisy made a smooth recovery without complications. At her most recent check, her owners shared a wonderful update. Daisy now sleeps quietly, and as her recovery continues, she should be able to enjoy life with more confidence and less risk of overexertion.
Breeds predisposed to brachycephalic airway problems, including French and English Bulldogs and Pugs, often have fantastic personalities but may face additional health challenges. Here at Tauranga Vets, we assess each dog individually and recommend the most appropriate options to support long-term comfort and quality of life.
