Willow’s Remarkable Recovery After Paw Injury

When playful kitten Willow injured her front paw, her owners acted quickly. Thanks to swift treatment from the Katikati team, she’s back to chasing toys and wrestling with her sister, despite a serious injury.

Six-month-old Willow came into the clinic with an injured front paw, possibly after a tussle with the family dog. Vet – Dr. Nina Bos admitted her for sedation and an X-ray, hoping to assess the damage more clearly.

Unfortunately, the x-ray revealed that two of Willow’s middle toes (digits 3 and 4) were traumatically dislocated. To prevent further pain and allow a smooth recovery, the decision was made to amputate the damaged digits.

Willow’s recovery has been outstanding. She’s now playing as energetically as ever, showing incredible resilience. While she’s still adjusting to scratching and climbing with fewer claws, she’s making fast progress.

A wonderful bonus for Willow’s family was that her free 6-week Southern Cross Pet Insurance fully covered the cost of her treatment.
