Morris’ Stubborn Wound Finally Heals

When Morris came in with minor catfight wounds, no one expected such a long healing journey. What began as simple cuts turned into a frustrating challenge, but with persistence—and a little creativity—Morris is now fully recovered and thriving.

Initially assessed by Vet – Dr. Melani Kuhler, Morris had minor injuries, including a bite near her hock. She was sent home with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics, and her first recheck looked promising. However, Morris had other plans—she began licking the healing site and became increasingly restless at home.

To help settle her, Morris was prescribed gabapentin, and her house sitters even fashioned a custom harness to hold a larger cone in place. Despite their best efforts, the wound wasn’t improving. On January 23, Vet – Dr. Melani Kuhler reassessed the situation and decided to switch her antibiotics after the original course wasn’t effective.

Thankfully, the new medication did the trick. With a mix of calming meds and a fresh antibiotic plan, Morris’ leg finally healed completely. She’s now back to full health—and hopefully staying out of trouble!
