Maverick’s Cherry Eye Sorted Early
When Maverick’s owners noticed one of his eyes did not look quite right, they brought their three-month-old Great Dane pup into our Te Puna clinic for a check.
Maverick saw Vet Dr Melani Kuhler for a full nose-to-tail examination. Melani confirmed he had cherry eye, a common condition in young dogs in which the tear gland becomes swollen and visible. Because it can be uncomfortable and may worsen, Maverick was booked in quickly for surgery. The procedure went smoothly, and he recovered really well. Before long, he was back to normal puppy life with bright eyes and plenty of confidence.
