Tilly’s Hidden Grass Blade Revealed

Tilly’s gagging and difficulty swallowing had her owners worried. Thanks to a careful examination and quick treatment by the Mount team, the real cause was uncovered and quickly resolved.

At 12 years and 5 months old, Tilly presented with ongoing gagging and swallowing problems. During her exam, the team found she had grade 3–4 dental disease, and based on her habit of eating grass, they also suspected she might have something stuck.

Tilly was admitted the next day for treatment under general anaesthetic. Vet – Dr. Dana Perry soon found the culprit: a large grass blade lodged at the back of her throat, extending partly into her nasal cavity.

While under anaesthetic, Dana also performed a dental clean and removed several problematic teeth. Thanks to the thorough care, Tilly woke up feeling far more comfortable and is now back to enjoying her golden years.
